"The Wizard of Oz" Meets the Four Elements in Our Classroom!

8th primary school of Thebes in Greece | Teachers: ΜΑΤΣΑΓΓΟΥΡΑ ΕΙΡΗΝΗ & ΤΣΙΟΥΤΣΟΥ ΖΩΗ   As part of our eTwinning project focused on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and the elements of nature, our students had the opportunity to explore L. Frank Baum’s classic story The Wizard of Oz. Through reading and watching selected chapters of the timeless tale, students discovered powerful messages about courage, empathy, identity, and the importance of home. In a creative and reflective discussion, students connected each main character of the story with one of nature’s four elements: Dorothy was linked to Air, symbolizing freedom and the breath of life. Scarecrow represented Earth, standing for stability and the desire to grow through knowledge. Tin Man embodied Water, reflecting deep emotions, kindness, and compassion.
