Languages for Peace : Students Share the Stories Behind Their Art

Image
8th primary school of Thebes in Greece | Teachers: ΜΑΤΣΑΓΓΟΥΡΑ ΕΙΡΗΝΗ & ΤΣΙΟΥΤΣΟΥ ΖΩΗ As part of the European Day of Languages celebrations, partner schools joined a collaborative forum in Twinspace titled “What inspired your drawing? How does your drawing reflect the theme of 'Languages for Peace'?” Students from different countries shared the thoughts and emotions behind their posters, explaining how symbols, words, and colors were used to express unity, understanding, and hope. The forum became a space of meaningful exchange, where young learners celebrated cultural diversity and the power of language to connect people. This creative dialogue helped strengthen intercultural communication and promoted peace through the voices and imagination of students across Europe.

Celebrating the European Day of Languages: "Languages for Peace"

8th primary school of Thebes in Greece | Teachers: ΜΑΤΣΑΓΓΟΥΡΑ ΕΙΡΗΝΗ & ΤΣΙΟΥΤΣΟΥ ΖΩΗ On the occasion of the European Day of Languages (26 September), our students took part in this year’s theme: "Languages for Peace"—an initiative of the Council of Europe that promotes plurilingualism and cultural understanding across Europe. As part of the celebrations, students designed creative posters using symbols, quotes, and artwork to express how languages can build bridges, promote peace, and bring people together. Their artworks were submitted to the official European Day of Languages website, contributing to a collective European voice for peace. This activity inspired our students to appreciate linguistic diversity, embrace creativity, and understand the powerful role of language in creating a more peaceful world.

Students shared their thoughts on friendship, courage, empathy, and the importance of believing in yourself. The forum encouraged meaningful reflection and intercultural dialogue, allowing students from different countries to connect through literature and express shared values. It was a great example of learning together in a European context!
