Class AP3B | Ms. Carla Nunes - Codeweek'24

In this funny and unplugged activity within our eTwinning Project, we coded a message in morse code for our eTwinning friends from another country. The main goal of the activity was to develop computational thinking skills as well as getting a better understanding of coding and encryption. Students discovered an old way of communication and made their first step in coding in a funny and playful way. They also learned about morse code and the telegraph and how it was used in World War II in a short movie followed by a Trivia Quiz. They created and sent messages using morse code and used an online morse code translator to decode their friends secret message. They also chose a secret message (about the Sustainable Development Goals), guided by their english teacher, to code with morse code characters. They sent it to their foreign friends who in order to understand it, need to decode the message.

Unity Day'24 celebration from Class AP3B with Teacher Carla Nunes from Afonso de Paiva School Cluster in Castelo Branco, Portugal .  The students watched the video and found out why is orange the chosen colour. They then discussed questions about what bullying is and how we should act. At the end, the students signed a pledge to take action to combat bullying at school and each drew and painted a piece of a collaborative puzzle to mark the date, which is in the final stages of construction.

Our Students Celebrate Unity Day – Wear and Share Orange!

Image
8th primary school of Thebes in Greece | Teachers: ΜΑΤΣΑΓΓΟΥΡΑ ΕΙΡΗΝΗ & ΤΣΙΟΥΤΣΟΥ ΖΩΗ On October 16, our students joined millions around the world to celebrate Unity Day, a powerful event organized by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. Wearing orange—the color of visibility and hope—they stood together to spread a clear message: bullying is not acceptable and kindness, acceptance, and inclusion matter every day. During the day, students took part in creative classroom activities such as making orange crowns, sharing positive messages, and contributing to a “Unity Tree,” symbolizing how we are all connected in building a safe and caring school community. In addition, all partner schools joined forces to create a collaborative Canva presentation, sharing photos and artwork to send a strong, united message of support, peace, and inclusion for this special day. This vibrant celebration served as a reminder that no one is alone, and by standing united, we can make a diffe...
