Class AP3B | Ms Carla Nunes: "The Wizard of Oz"

L. Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz" is a timeless tale that teaches valuable lessons about self-discovery, courage, and the power of friendship and home. After reading the story aloud with my students from Class AP3B and watching the video, we discussed the main theme of the story and how the Wizard of Oz characters align with the 4 elements of Nature, an activity included in our eTwinning Project:
Dorothy: Air (representing freedom, movement, and the breath of life);
Scarecrow: Earth (representing grounding, stability, and growth);
Tin Man: Water (representing emotions, empathy, and compassion);
Lion: Fire (representing courage, passion, and leadership).
They loved it!

A Wonderful Journey with Our First Grade in the eTwinning Project

Participating in the eTwinning project was a truly rewarding yet challenging experience for our first-grade class at 2nd Primary school.of Ag.Nikolaos Primary School. This particular age group is just beginning its journey into literacy, learning their first letters and words , and taking their initial steps in reading and writing. As a result, engaging with the project's themes required thoughtful adaptation and simplification of complex ideas. The educator carefully introduced concepts related to the 17th Sustainable Development Goal (Partnerships for the Goals) and Mindfulness , using age-appropriate language and activities. These ideas were taught cross-curricularly , blending seamlessly with the subjects of Language, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies . The Wizard of Oz Reading - INSTITUT CASTELLET

At the beginning of the school year, when we started our class, we read one of two chapters of the Wizard of Oz. Each student read a fragment. The first chapter was in English and we translate it together, but the rest of the chapters were in catalan easier for us. This book talks about one girl called Dorothy, and she lives in Kansas with her aunt and uncle and her dog Toto, but one strong cyclone moved her house to another land called Emerald city. Dorothy wants to go to visit the Wizard of Oz to return to Kansas, but along the road she find cowardly lion, the  scarecrow, the tin man and there were also the east and west witch.
