Creating Our Common Song: Music, Emotions and Unity in Action

 8th primary school of Thebes in Greece | Teachers: ΜΑΤΣΑΓΓΟΥΡΑ ΕΙΡΗΝΗ & ΤΣΙΟΥΤΣΟΥ ΖΩΗ

As part of the European eTwinning project “SEL Wiz: Hocus Pocus – Heart and Mind in Focus: Discovering Nature’s Magic Within”, our partner schools continued their collaborative journey by writing and composing an original song that reflects the themes of peace, empathy, respect, and emotional expression.

During January, students from all partner schools:

Agreed on the style of the song,

Decided on its structure and message,

Composed the melody,

And began creating a collaborative video to bring their work to life.

Through this activity, students are not only expressing themselves artistically, but also building emotional intelligence, enhancing digital literacy, and learning the power of collaboration and unity.

This musical journey is a wonderful example of how SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) and creativity can come together to promote peace, inclusion, and sustainability in education.

The 2nd Primary School part of the Blue Schools Network 2024-2025

   The creation of the  eTwinning 2024-25 program , titled “SEL Wiz: Hocus Pocus: Heart and mind in focus – Discovering Nature’s Magic Within” – Celebrating UNESCO Days for Sustainability and Peace through cultivating SEL in students, aiming for our school's inclusion in the  UNESCO AspNet Schools Network , allowed our students to collaborate with schools from other countries. This European collaboration helped them deepen their knowledge of the SDGs, exchange ideas, and share best practices in conjunction with technology. Simultaneously, it fostered the development of essential skills for 21st-century citizens, including the cultivation of  social and emotional intelligence ,  critical thinking ,  problem-solving , and  intercultural communication , thereby empowering them to actively contribute to the creation of a sustainable future.
