Art, Nature & AI: Students Bring Fairy Tale Characters to Life for UNESCO World Art Day
As part of the eTwinning project “SEL Wiz: Hocus Pocus – Heart and Mind in Focus”, students from our school celebrated UNESCO World Art Day and Outdoor Classroom Day through a creative transnational art activity inspired by the beloved fairy tale “The Wizard of Oz.”
At first, students went outdoors — in the schoolyard and nearby natural landscapes — and created drawings of characters from the story, such as the Tin Man.In the second phase, our partner students from 2n ESO Projectes, Institut Castellet BCN, Catalonia, Spain, used AI technology (Sketch Metademolab app) to animate our drawing and bring the Tin Man to life in a short video.
At the same time, our students received a drawing of Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, created by the Spanish students, and transformed it into an animated video using the same AI tool.
As a final celebration of this collaboration, all student artworks and AI-generated animations from every participating school were beautifully collected and presented in a shared digital e-book — a colorful and imaginative album that showcases the creative journey, the spirit of teamwork, and the magic of cross-cultural expression.
Through this unique experience, students:
Blended art, nature, and imagination in meaningful ways,
Developed creativity, digital skills, and teamwork in an international context,
Discovered how art and technology can unite people across borders.
This activity was a joyful celebration of creativity and friendship, proving that when art, nature, and technology come together, the result is truly magical!
